Iain Baker
Adult Protection, Borough of Poole
Iain talked to us about keeping people safe. He talked about the work of the Social Services Help Desk at the Borough of Poole.
All information is kept private, unless it affects other people or is a crime.
All Social Workers are trained as investigators.
A Safeguarding Board is being set up for Bournemouth and Poole.
He told us about the Care Quality Commission. He told us that they will look at how care providers and social workers look after people.

Choices First is a group of students from the Choices course at Bournemouth and Poole College that come to meet at Poole Forum.
We talk about what there is for us to do in our
local community.
We share information and ideas.
We always have lots to talk about.
We also have people come to visit our group and talk to us about what they do.
This page tells you some of the things we have
found out. We want as many people as possible learn what we have learnt !




Debbie Hopper
Health -
Debbie talked to us about the new yellow health books. They will be called My Yellow Health book. These books will help us stay healthy and safe. Debbie is going to come to the College to talk to us again about these.
We told Debbie about some of the things that can be hard for us. Things like cutting our toe nails !
Debbie also talked about Health Action Plans and why they are important.





The Sex Factor Project

The College students helped Pauline Stanley
when she was collecting information for
the Sex Factor Project.


Poole Bus Station
The College students went with members of Poole Forum to visit Poole Bus Station. We were able to tell the people there what we thought of the Bus Station. We hope that this will help to make things better there.
The College students have also helped with questionnaires about travel and getting about Poole.
